BABYSITTER’S TRAINING
In this course, participants will learn how to be safe,
responsible, & successful babysitters.  They will learn
good interviewing and decision-making skills; how to
prevent injuries; how to help children behave; how to
help an infant or child with breathing & bleeding
emergencies; and how to hold, feed, burp and diaper
a baby. This course provides individuals, ages 11-15
with the information and skills necessary to provide
safe and responsible care for children in the absence
of parents or adult guardians.  (Participants must be at
least 11 years of age in order to receive a certification card.)

NURSE AID TRAINING
The Chestnut Ridge Chapter serves as a permanent testing facility for
Nurses Aid Training.  We provide both the written examination as well as
the skills examination.  Tests are held every Wednesday.  Participants
MUST pre-register to take the NAT Test by going to http://www.promissor.
com click on Nurse Aid exam to download a candidate handbook,
download a registration form, view testing schedule and sites or view the
practice written examination.


FAMILY CAREGIVING
This program offers nine one-hour modules designed to help participants
provide better care to a loved one in the home with information on
subjects such as healthy eating; positioning and moving; home safety;
legal and financial issues; caring for the caregiver; care for loved ones
with Alzheimer’s disease, Dementia or HIV/AIDS.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING
This course is designed to teach lifeguard
candidates the skills and knowledge needed
to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies.  
The course content and activities prepare
candidates to recognize and respond quickly
and effectively to emergencies, and prevent
drowning and injuries.  There are prerequisites
for taking this course.  


SPORTS SAFETY TRAINING
The American Red Cross and the United States Olympic Committee have
joined forces to develop an exciting course for coaches who want to keep
their athletes safe. This course covers sports-related injury prevention,
first aid care and Adult CPR. An optional Child CPR component may also
be taken. This course is a must for coaches, officials and parents of
athletes.  Sports Safety Training is designed to help coaches, athletic
trainers, and other participants identify and eliminate potentially
hazardous conditions in various sports environments, recognize
emergencies and make appropriate decisions.
