| Red Cross Impressed with Allegheny Township Business Donation March was National American Red Cross Month. Mrs. Marlene Petro is the Executive Director of the American Red Cross, Chestnut Ridge Chapter, and a resident of Allegheny Township. She presented the local Kings Restaurant in Allegheny Township with a proposition – ask patrons during March if they would like to purchase a red cross for $1, with the proceeds going to the American Red Cross. Participants could then write their names on the cross, and have it proudly displayed in the restaurant. (The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization led by volunteers to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters.) The Chestnut Ridge Chapter serves nearly 115,000 residents in Northern and Southeastern Westmoreland County. (L to R) American Red Cross Executive Director Marlene Petro, Allegheny Township Kings Restaurant Manager Shawn Krebs, and Bonnie Hanan, Kings Restaurant hostess, stand under an arch decorated with hundreds of red crosses. Krebs presented the Red Cross with a check for $170 from Kings’ patrons. The Red Cross also invites everyone to an Open House in their new location on Sunday, May 18th from 1 – 4 PM. The new office is located at 2895A Leechburg Rd. in Lower Burrell. There will be refreshments, mobile Fire House demonstrations, a raffle basket and other children’s activities, including free giveaways.
